The debut release of Carnivale Music shows how healthy the scene currently is in Amsterdam. While Carnivale has been steadily rocking Amsterdam’s nightlife for nearly three years now, it became time for the wandering band of entertainers to take it a step further. Two dance floor bombs are the result of this ambitious plan and have been delivered by no one less than Serbian all-round hero Marko Nastic.
“House Traitor” is a classic house composition, in which the groove flows gently from the interaction between the deep bass and clap. The remix by David Labeij underlines the deep groove but moves the composition to the Techno side of the spectrum.
The warm and deep B-side, Alabama Mama, is a powerful track, with a melody that’s both catchy and uplifting. The subtle remixes by Specker and Rik Woldring feat Malbetrieb make this EP typically Carnivale, because of the harmonious blend of house and techno.
Will Carnivale Music’s debut EP mark a special moment in the history of mankind? Probably not, but who gives a … What we do know is that the journey has only just begun and that there’s a big chance that this label will be around for a very long time.
